A few years ago we had a Centipede arcade machine here at Star Worlds, but it went out to one of our pizza place accounts. They liked it so much, we just keep it in their game area. I had been looking for some time now to find another Centipede. We finely found a few of them. :) At least for now, Star Worlds has the original upright Centipede as well as a mini-cabaret machine.

One of the all time classic arcade games, Centipede still offers players a lot of fast moving, skill playing thrills. As the Centipede winds its way down through the garden of mushrooms, you, the shooter, try to blast all of its segments. The spider is a pesky little friend, but can earn you 300, 600 or 900 points depending on how close you get to him. The spider also helps keep the lower part of the garden free from mushrooms so you can move around more easily. As you shoot the mushrooms and the bottom area of the garden becomes clear, your friend the flea will drop down leaving trails of mushrooms throughout the garden. From time to time, the scorpion jets across the garden poisoning the mushrooms, which in turn makes the centipede, move faster if he hits the poisoned mushrooms.

A couple of fun facts about Centipede: It was the first game ever co-designed by a woman, Dona Bailey. Also, Buckner and Garcia wrote a song about it on their ever-popular album Pac-Man Fever.

So spray on some Deep Woods Off! and stop in at Star Worlds Arcade to give the Centipede a run for its money.
