Often, in the big boom of arcade games of the 80's some games got lost in the shuffle. Companies like Atari and Bally Midway were putting games out so fast that some of the titles were, what I like to call, "Sleepers". Bally Midway's Star Guards was released in 1986 and was for sure a sleeper.
You can choose to be one of three robots, red, yellow, or blue. You can take on the machine as one or play as a team within the galaxy. Each coin gives you energy units, and on each level you can earn additional energy units as well as special weapons. The game's play and controls are a lot like Robotron with a splash of Sinistar and the team play of other games of that era such as Rampage, Gauntlet, and Xenophobe.
I have personally never seen this game anywhere before. It is truly a neat game and I think it will be loved for years by the robot customers at Star Worlds Arcade :)
